So i did and everything started working great like before.

Long story short, I searched and one of the solutions was to run a Windows update. Task manager indicated that the system wasn't overloaded at all. Same as you, I tried to shut down everything I could on the background, but it didn't help. Than all over sudden it started crashing. Before it was working perfectly, even with many filters and effects applied. My Vegas Studio 9 platinum started crashing in the middle of rendering. And I have very similar setup: i7, 6GB RAM, Vista 64. I had the same problem about a month ago. I have used this application before several times to make shorter videos with no problems at all so this just seems odd. 45 very short video clips ranging from 5 sec. No other applications are running in the background. Sometimes the program just stops rendering midway, other times it just crashes. I've tried every combination of settings and video sizes.

If you own Magix versions of Vegas Pro or Movie Studio, look inside the Vegas folder. If you own Sony versions of Vegas Pro or Movie Studio, look inside the Sony folder. Press Windows Start button and search through the program list to find the program you need to send to Desktop. If you don't have a quick start icon for the program you want to reset, you need to create one first. The reset instructions will not work by pressing a launch icon inside the Windows Start Menu or program list.
